Design is one of the largest aspects of FRC. When the build season starts, this is the the absolute priority of the whole team (in conjunction with strategy).

The design of one's bot must address the challenge imposed by the game. Depending on decisions in strategy, the team may pick to create a certain mechanism that will solve multiple challenges in one. This also works the other way around. For example, the design team may not be able to figure out how to complete a certain challenge, and the strategy must change accordingly.

Depending on the game, one must choose the most efficient and suitable designs to address the game. In this one must choose:

  • Type of chassis
  • Type of Gamepiece manipulator (many, many different options)
  • CG priorities
  • Autonomous Priorities
